Then Cometh the End [Lesson 19]

Christ will reign until time has run its course. “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet” (1 Corinthians 15:24-25).Scripture tells us that the present heavens and earth will be destroyed by fire at the close of the Millennium ( 2 Peter 3:12-13; Micah 1:3-4). After the earth has been destroyed by fire, God will establish the “new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness” (2 Peter 3:13). The heavenly headquarters for the universe—the New Jerusalem—will descend from Heaven. The redeemed will dwell with God forever, and the new heavens and earth will never pass away.
